The Peermentor Project was an amalgamation of three online initiatives: PIP (Peer Implementation Project), ImpleMentor and NetMentor. The primary cause of the project is to support Peer Education and Peer Mentoring.
My role within this project was extensive and varied. My initial role was to develop the various websites from conception through to completion. However I also adopted a solid technical support and administration role also throughout the lifetime of the project. The online part of the project consists of nine entities: three public information websites, three Moodle systems, two social networking applications (both based on ELGG) and a web collaboration application (Dimdim). All of these features were made available via a portal page. A wide variety of activities were needed during the course of the project, which were in addition to the main activities. Moodle training was a prominent feature after the sites were developed. Also it was necessary to develop individual presentations at key stages throughout the project – both PowerPoint and CD-Rom based presentations. Site reporting and the collating ofonline usage statistics reports were also required – as was hosting management and site maintenance.
This project was developed in association with Adastra Education Ltd.
