Project Role: My role within this project for Adastra Education was extensive and varied. My initial role was to develop the various websites from conception through to completion. However I also adopted a solid technical support and administration role also throughout the lifetime of the project. The online part of the project consists of nine entities: three public information websites, three Open Source Moodle systems, two Open Source social networking applications (both based on ELGG) and an Open Source web collaboration application (Dimdim). All of these features are available via the project image link above or via the 'Visit Site' button below. A wide variety of activities were needed during the course of the project, which were in addition to the main activities. Moodle training was a prominent feature after the sites were developed. Also it was necessary to develop individual presentations at key stages throughout the project – both PowerPoint and CD-Rom based presentations. Site reporting and the creation of usage statistics reports were also required.

Junior Golf Guide and Accreditation Interactive Website

Image of Junior Golf Guide and Accreditation Interactive Website project

Summary: Junior Golf Guide and Accreditation is a video-driven interactive website that contains help to those involved with the organisation and development of the junior golfer and is designed to be a useful source of information and best practice.

Project Role: My role within this project for CC4 was to produce the website, from visuals that were provided to me. The project was initially devleloped in a CD-Rom format, however later it was transformed into Web format. The two are separate projects with a different look and feel. The content area of each part of this site was developed in Flash, as was the navigational elements. Everything was then encapsulated in a HTML/CSS based framework. Each Flash content section is embedded in its own HTML page, making standard browser navigation possible as well (to go back and forward between pages – which is usually not possible when developing flash by standard means). Another significant part of this project was video encoding, and Adobe Flash Video Encoder was used to encode standard video into .FLV format. A custom built video player was developed with underlying ActionScript for the user to control the video. The video player boasts standard video controls, a mute button and progress/scrubbing functionality.
